Hey Ya: What does brilliance feel like?

So after a great night out in Houston for a friends birthday i came home, ate some late night drunk food (soo standard) and put on some scrubs to pass out to and heard this song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8-8nkkOA_AM&feature=related

We all have these moments, however brief in our lives, where for whatever reason the stars align, the fates smile on us and we self actualize in a way we never previously thought possible. Maybe i should phrase it better: there are these times, that every human on earth has, where they feel "I'm the fucking shit!". No matter how mundane or boring or typical our lives are we still have this piece inside of us that just absolutely knows/hopes/wishes that we are the most unique and important and meaningful being on earth.

We're all obsessed with ourselves; we think we're more funny than we are(and I'm pretty damn funny), we think our boring ass stories are worth recounting to friends (I'm blogging for fucks sake). We pour over the minutiae of our own lives just to find something extraordinary.

Trust me, I'm much more egomaniacal than the average bear, and despite my rather rational nature, i still dream that I'm the true Good Will Hunting or that i can write the next great American novel.

So when watching scrubs i heard Ted (one of the side characters) do a cover of Oukasts Hey YA, and a found this dudes cover on youtube. And to me he just absolutely kills it. If i was him, at the end of it, I would just think to myself: "So this is what brilliance feels like".

Maybe it's that the subject matter hits close to home for me, or maybe it's that i just love the Scrubs scene it's from (who wouldn't), or that i drank way too much Jaegar tonight lol, but i couldn't help but envy this dude for getting closer to that moment of perfection in life where you do or say or make that one thing happen where you can look back at 85 on your death bed and say with pride: "that was me." My proverbial hat is off to you sir, you killed the remix. Here it is again, it's worth another listen http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8-8nkkOA_AM&feature=related.

much love, more poker and less emo coming.

And here's to hoping i'll have my own moment.
