Hey Ya: What does brilliance feel like?

So after a great night out in Houston for a friends birthday i came home, ate some late night drunk food (soo standard) and put on some scrubs to pass out to and heard this song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8-8nkkOA_AM&feature=related

We all have these moments, however brief in our lives, where for whatever reason the stars align, the fates smile on us and we self actualize in a way we never previously thought possible. Maybe i should phrase it better: there are these times, that every human on earth has, where they feel "I'm the fucking shit!". No matter how mundane or boring or typical our lives are we still have this piece inside of us that just absolutely knows/hopes/wishes that we are the most unique and important and meaningful being on earth.

We're all obsessed with ourselves; we think we're more funny than we are(and I'm pretty damn funny), we think our boring ass stories are worth recounting to friends (I'm blogging for fucks sake). We pour over the minutiae of our own lives just to find something extraordinary.

Trust me, I'm much more egomaniacal than the average bear, and despite my rather rational nature, i still dream that I'm the true Good Will Hunting or that i can write the next great American novel.

So when watching scrubs i heard Ted (one of the side characters) do a cover of Oukasts Hey YA, and a found this dudes cover on youtube. And to me he just absolutely kills it. If i was him, at the end of it, I would just think to myself: "So this is what brilliance feels like".

Maybe it's that the subject matter hits close to home for me, or maybe it's that i just love the Scrubs scene it's from (who wouldn't), or that i drank way too much Jaegar tonight lol, but i couldn't help but envy this dude for getting closer to that moment of perfection in life where you do or say or make that one thing happen where you can look back at 85 on your death bed and say with pride: "that was me." My proverbial hat is off to you sir, you killed the remix. Here it is again, it's worth another listen http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8-8nkkOA_AM&feature=related.

much love, more poker and less emo coming.

And here's to hoping i'll have my own moment.

So im doing the blogging thing

Another poker player with another blog, but hopefully i can sidestep the whole chocolates on Valentines day with rich cliche filled centers thing and say something fresh, if only every now and then.

For as long as i remember, me and the guys I grew up with have talked and dreamed and joked -only kind of- about balling outta control, making mad money and buying a Castle. Trap doors, secret passage ways, basketball court, huge pool, dream life etc etc. But, when i realized i wasn't going to be the next J Will (or Lebron James for the less cultivated basketball mind) and do the whole NBA riches thing i figured i had to come up with another way to make it happen: insert poker.

So I'm a 24 year old professional (meh i guess i can use that word) poker player living in Austin Texas trying hard to make an easy living. I've been playing as my only source of income for maybe 1.5-2 years now, and despite any emo bitching i might do when i run bad, i absolutely love it. I wake up when i want, go to sleep when i want, play when i want, and when I'm not too lazy, enjoy this amazing city of Austin.

So my hope is to update regularly with the things that interest me. Lots of poker (my goals, thoughts and ambitions in it), lots of basketball, TV shows/movies/music that i enjoy, traveling, and a bit of partying i suppose.

2009 was a pretty good year poker and $ wise even though the past few months have kinda sucked. I made a few ducats, crushed a few souls, still have a passion for the game and the desire to get better. Expect big things in 2010. I'll let Tupac speak for me and my 2010 plans, if only metaphorically, lol: "We taking yo money, and buying yo bitches with yo money!"

Just got home from a massage, about to put in a little session (poker speak for playing), then head to the UT basketball game and then out and about on the town, ez life. holla!

Oh and since today was a pretty damn good day, here's a little brag cause they're not all like this:
